Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has made good on his promise to release thousands of hours of footage from the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. According to a report from Axios, McCarthy has reportedly handed over 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Per RSBN, House Republicans like Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., and Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., had previously indicated that McCarthy was set to release the security footage from Jan. 6.

“Considering all the public has seen are edited clips from a bunch of Democrats with an axe to grind, it sure will be nice to get some unbiased footage,” Boebert commented on Twitter in January.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who has been a staunch advocate for McCarthy’s speakership from the beginning, celebrated the news on social media on Monday.

“For all of you that doubted we would release the tapes,” she wrote. “Here you go! I’m very happy to be right again in my support for Kevin McCarthy as our Speaker. Americans deserve to see the truth, not a one sided narrative and unfair two tiered justice system.”

Axios reported that Tucker Carlson’s television producers were at Capitol Hill last week looking through the footage. They also stated that Carlson would reportedly begin airing footage in the next few weeks on his program.

Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of President Donald Trump, commented on the news on Twitter. “Awesome!” he wrote. “Incidentally, when I did my Triggered podcast interview with @SpeakerMcCarthy he had mentioned, as we chatted afterwards, that he was trying to get all the footage to make sure it got out. This has been in the works, but great that it’s happening!”

The security footage has been long awaited for the families and friends of American citizens who have been incarcerated due to their presence at the U.S. Capitol on that fateful day. As reported by RSBN, roughly 25 people are currently jailed right now in Washington, D.C., for their alleged roles in the Jan. 6 protests.
